Turning the Media’s Eye to New Mexico

When our client closed escrow on 57,000 acres in New Mexico, expectations for high-level financial media placements were high. We delivered: The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Associated Press, MSN Money, Business Week and other key, strategic media – 4.5 million impressions in all. Along the way, we provided messaging and briefings to key stakeholders, including the governor, state legislators and the mayor, and they gave positive interviews as a result.

South Orange County Wastewater Authority

LP&A used a media relations strategy help position its client, the South Orange County Wastewater Authority (SOCWA), as a leading environmental steward with its key targets: regulators and its customers. Following SOCWA’s receipt of the prestigious Platinum Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, LP&A successfully deployed an education-based media campaign to brief reporters on the agency’s strong environmental record and commitment to environmental sensitivity.

LP&A organized a press conference to announce the banning of lead shot on Tejon Ranch, which has the largest private hunting program in California and is home to the endangered California condor. Santa Margarita Water District

A Spoonful of Medicine Drives the Water Quality

A national news report regarding trace levels of pharmaceuticals (monitored to the parts per trillion!) in drinking water concerned customers and fired up the local media. In the hours immediately following the study’s publication, LP&A prepared District spokespeople with comprehensive messaging that secured good initial coverage, and followed up with an op/ed in the local paper and a “Pharma Page” on the district’s Web site.

Newhall Land

Environmental News Bureau

Newhall Land is dedicated to innovative environmental design in its communities, but was not receiving the recognition it deserved. LP&A created an “environmental news bureau” to prepare and pitch green stories, resulting in eight positive placements in multiple broadcast and print outlets in its first year. Stories were then emailed to Newhall’s VIP list.

Talk to the media for me
(or teach me how to).

If your message needs the media, our know-how and reputation as a PR firm reporters trust can supercharge your story. Or, if you’re trying to avoid the spotlight, we’re pros at that, too.

We understand the media - today’s Googling, tweeting, overworked, stressed-out media – so we can teach you how to be a “Master of Media Relations,” just as we’ve taught county supervisors, company CEOs and dozens of others.

Our specialties:

  • Clutter In, Clarity Out:  Reporters typically flub complex stories. Our uncluttered, clear messaging and materials promote accuracy.
  • If it’s Regulated, We can Communicate It: Give us your alphabet soup of regulatory complexity, and we’ll give the media simplicity.
  • Make Your Own Media: You can’t always trust the press to get your story out right, so we’ll help you create your own media so you can talk directly to your stakeholders.
  • “I truly believe LP&A has been the best addition to our team! Your brilliance, keen awareness of environmental matters, writing skills, though-provoking strategy contributions, impressive PR material and the stomach to deal with the media has made our team go from good to GREAT.”
